Conflict Management doctoral student wins Best Student Paper

Taylor Downs, a Kennesaw State University doctoral student in International Conflict Management, was recently awarded best paper for his work, “Understanding Internal Social Movement Differences and Framing in the Movement Against the Dakota Access Pipeline” at the 2018 Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) Conference in Austin, Texas.

KSU Center for Sustainable Journalism receives two individual grants

The Center for Sustainable Journalism (CSJ) at Kennesaw State University has received two individual grants – totaling $500,000 – from The Tow Foundation and The Wallace Foundation to provide continued support of the Center’s publication activities that focus on youth justice and child welfare issues.

Internationally renowned researcher named Kennesaw State vice president for research

Kennesaw State University has named Phaedra Corso as vice president for research, effective Feb. 4. Corso currently serves as the director of the Economic Evaluation Research Group in the College of Public Health and the associate director of the Owens Institute for Behavioral Research at the University of Georgia.

History professor earns best book award from Georgia Historical Society

William Thomas Okie, associate professor of history and author of “The Georgia Peach: Culture, Agriculture, and Environment in the American South,” was honored Tuesday with the Bell Award from the Georgia Historical Society, becoming one of two individuals recognized in 2018 for books published in 2016 and 2017.

Professor works to combat opioid addiction in rural Georgia

With roughly 90 people dying from opioid overdoses every day in America, the addiction crisis continues to be a struggle for many, especially in rural communities. Evelina Sterling, assistant professor of sociology at Kennesaw State, is tackling the epidemic of opioid abuse among pregnant women in rural communities, by finding ways to improve healthcare and legislative aid for them.

Kennesaw State University to graduate more than 3,100 on May 8, 9 and 10

More than 3,100 students will graduate during Kennesaw State’s spring Commencement. The University’s six graduation ceremonies will be held in the KSU Convocation Center on the Kennesaw Campus, beginning Tuesday, May 8, at 10 a.m.
